Both key fobs will not centrally lock the car......only thing that happens visually is warning lights activation and motor sound from doors without locks going down.
Boot open will not work via fobs or via button on console.
Internal central lock button on console does not work.
Button to retract rear headrests does not work.
A couple of times the key fob stuck in the ignition after turning off the engine.
At present have to manually lock and open the driver's door and boot.
Batteries changed in fob with no effect.
Any suggestions?

First thing is have you checked your fuse boxes?

Another option is the vacuum system not working. May just be a pipe off or a failure of the pump.

Given that misbehaviour I'd try disconnecting the battery overnight to force a reset of everything, but aside from that I'm all out of ideas. It doesn't sound like a wiring or sensor problem, more a controller issue. The W211 is pretty much completely computer controlled so a fault in a processor and all hell breaks loose.

Assuming they do come back and say you need a new plastic box, just be aware that most of these items can be repaired for a fraction of the cost of new. Its often little more than a re-solder job.
