Hi Guys I Am New To This And Would Appreciate Some Advice On A Problem Which I Have......here Goes:

I Bought The Above Car On A 2000w It Is Auto/trip And It Had About 120k When I Bought It. It Is Now 131k And The Problem Is That It Was Due A Service, So I Had This Done From A Guy Who I Use All The Time...he Has Been Working For Audi In Leeds For Donkeys Of Years. I Felt The Service Was Straight Forward And There Were No Probs Until About A Month Later When The Car Was Stuck In Gear, It Was Either 3rd Or 4th. I Put The Car Into P And Then Back Into D And No Gear Would Engage, I Then Tried R And Still No Joy. I Then Switched The Car Off And Left For 10 Mins And Started Her Back Up Engaged It In D It Shook Abnormally And Then I Was Able To Drive It Home, I Parked Her Up And Then Try To Take Her Out The Next Day, Everything Was Fine Until About 20 Miles Of Driving, Same Thing Again... I Had The Car Booked In With An Indie And He Said To Me After Putting It On A Machine That The Speed Sensor Came Up Faulty And Quoted Me Around 600 Inc Vat. I Said I Would Think About It And Drove The Car Away. I Was Then Recommended To A Auto Transmission Specialist In Leeds (my Home Town). I Took It Down To Him And He Said He Would Take A Look At It...so He Did ....he Then Called Me And Said He Will Have To Recon The G/box At A Cost Of 800 Inc The Speed Sensor. He Started The Work And Called Me Back Saying That If I Was Keeping The Car He Recommended That The Torque Converter Was Done Also Because He Saw Some Metal Shavings Different To The Type Found In The G/box. I Gave Him The Go Ahead And So After A Week He Called Me To Tell Me To Collect And Landed Me With A Bill Of 1100, I Thought This Was Alot Of Money, Almost Half Of The Car's Valu Infact. I Paid It As I Liked The Car Very Much. Took It Away And It Drove As Good As New. The Next Day I Tried To Start It. Temp Was Around 1 Degree. Car Started But When I Engaged Either R Or D It Would Instantly Stall. I Had To Wait Until The Car Had Warmed Up Until I Could Drive. The Car Changed Gears As It Should Have Done. Until 200 Miles Later The Same Thing Started To Happen. That Is That It Would Get Stuck In Whichever Gear The Car Was In (usually 3rd) And Could Only Be Driven In That Gear. When This Would Happen If I Tried To Put It Into The Triptronic And Select Gears Manually Then It Would Not Respond Ie It Stayed In D On The Dash. This Has All Happened In December. The Car Went Back To The Same Garage And Another Week. I Collected The Car And He Told Me He Has Replaced The Speed Sensor Again And Had Another Torque Converter Installed By Another Supplier. I Havent Got Alot Of Money And Need Advice On How Resolve These Issues With Car And Whether Anyone Else Has Ever Had The Same Problem

All Help Will Be Appreciated

Truthfully I think that you have been had,, for want of a better word, the only thing that would have caused your problem should have been the speed sensor plate, and that cost a few hundred all in.
The fitting of a torque converter I do not believe, and I almost doubt that the speed plate was new.

Its a shame that these firms exist

still having the same problems
speed sensor has been replaced twice now, the car still stalls from when starting cold when you try to engage forward or reverse. anyone got any ideas, it may be that something else is causing to send it into limp mode.

regards

If there was any leaks into the loom etc then the fault could come back and have to be cleared on STAR

i have the fault codes cleared, i have been advised that it could be either the wiring connections in g/box ecu that need to be checked and if this fails then have the gearbox control unit checked out

i have brought the car home today and have removed the g/box ecu ....will leave it for a couple of days and then put it back in....se how it goes

if there is anything else i can check out please advise
