Very good and thanks, the next thing you will have to do is to wind some transponder coils, they are 2mh as near as I could measure them.

On all the keys that I have repaired the through hole plating always fails in the same place

:)

Malcolm, I can only presume that is a " Does he really know what he is doing " kind of question...

To be honest, I can make a new key in the half the time it takes to repair one, and if the customer is happy with it then thats that!

Thanks for your support tho!

I know that you know what you are doing, I was just thinking of someone who does not or cannot afford a new one complete, maybe I should buy your old keys and carry on fixing them for those in need

Theres a Business plan :)

I have a few customers who ask If the repair is going to be 100% as they don't fancy being stranded or it becoming the same as before, But then still go for the used key!

Another little Video..

A customer In Cornwall had destroyed their Keys, Being it a VERY long way from me, I suggested they send just the EIS ( Electronic Ignition Switch) and I could make keys for it.

I did a little Vid for the customer, I used a ESL that I had in the van to link to show it working, along with custom wiring so I can bench test EIS/ESL/Keys fully working!

Hello,

Sorry to ask here but do you think that what is available on the new Benz C-class 2014/2015 is a standard system or something new ?

Is it any good / enough ?

It is called: Electronic immobiliser incl. ELCODE locking system with radio remote

Can you tell me how it works ?

Thank you so much.

So, to recap, for n00bs, this is common issue with Mercedes fobs.

Spare key will allow entry but will not turn in the ignition.

Mercedes say the fob is dead and not reprogrammable, new fob will be £260 and up.

Independent reputable locksmiths asking £160 for a new fob, happy to travel to them.

Who offers the least expensive, guaranteed to work replacement fob service within 80 miles of, say, Winchester?

Anyone able to beat £160 if I come to you?

I cannot see anyone doing new fobs for £160, the dealer price is £225

Hey PovertySpec,

I could come to Winchester at some point, or you could meet us halfway when I'm traveling (Maybe near oxford?) BUT! Forget what Mercedes say! If you can post a picture of the key I can tell you if I can reprogram it or fix it!

Hi Mark, my fob is like this:

Happy to travel to you. Any excuse to go for a drive and this is as good a reason as any.

That's the quote I had. £115 to reprogramme, £160 for a new key if the old one couldn't be reprogrammed.

I will have to travel to London to get it done.
