Hey guys,

So, it's finally time that I've decided to restore my W140. There are a number of problems with it such as:

Service

Over the next 2 weeks, I'll be getting a full on service changing everything needed to get it back into s healthy state. I feel the car drags rather than driving effortlessly.

Also, noticed that when stood still, the car shakes. Will be speaking tohe garage servicing the car to find out why it is shaking.

Exterior

Over the years, the paint on the bonnet has burn marks. Also some creep scratched the side of the car and there are general scuffs marks around the whole car. Therefore, the plan is to give it a full respray and make it immaculate again.

Interior

Over the years, the seats have become worn out with one of the seats having a small tear. I'll be getting the sests recolonised and made new again.

Air con not working

The aircon hasnt worked for a while, taking it to Kwik fit they identified the compressor is gone and quoted £1000 to fix. Craz.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a replacement compressor or get this fixed at a better price?

Suction doors not working

One of the main features of the car which hasnt worked for a while, so the garage servicing the csr will diagnose the issue and hopefully get it fixed.

Wipers

The wipers are not working correctly, the slow and medium speeds dont work. Only the very fast speed works, I think it could be the stick itself that may be faulty. So will be getting this replaced.

Speedometer glass

The glass the speedmeter has chipped when previously doing some work on the car so will need to get this replaced.

It's time to give it some love and restore it back into a classic legend.

So, over the coming weeks, I will keep you guys posted with pictures and how things are coming along. I'm also looking to put some monoblock amgs on.

If anyone has advise on some of the bits above that would be helpful.

Project restore the beast!

Thanks,
Vishal

The car "dragging" is likely torque converter.

Shaking when stationary is either engine or transmission mounts or both.

Looks like you have a nice project to keep you busy for a while.

The suction doors are probably needing a new PSE pump which you can probably test without removing from the car.
For your W140 spares, these guys seems to be the ones with a lot of good reports. Not far from you in Ashford Kent.

and their Facebook page as it appears their website is under construction.

Thanks mate,

Appreciate the advise, do you know where the PSE pump is located? and how I would test it?

Thanks,
Vishal

Sorry, I don't know where it is located but there are loads of videos on YouTube showing how to test it.

When the one on my 2000MY S320 I found a guy in Kent that offered repairs, including replacement electric motors. I managed to get him to sell me a refurbished motor and did the work myself. This is the guy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-...888461?hash=item3d444ccb0d:g:raIAAMXQDnpTbp-A

Carl at W140.co.uk is a good source of spare parts. He took my V12 W140 when it went up in flames but had lots of good working parts.

Its located inside the boot behind the carpetting. Looks like this. There are videos on Youtube showing how to test the PSE pump.
