prop shaft bearings

can any one advise me on the above. had it into garage with a clicking noise from underneath.told its prop shaft bearings. is it doable as a diyer or is it complex.:

hi to you. its a c class kompressor and a bad one at that. had gear box, power steering hand brake problems to mention just a few.

Prop shaft

can any one advise me on the above. had it into garage with a clicking noise from underneath.told its prop shaft bearings. is it doable as a diyer or is it complex.:

Did they say if it was the support bearing or the universal joint bearings. I think the support bearings would possibly have more of a growl/grind kind of noise and the uj bearings would have a clonk when starting to turn or take up the drive.
Try turning by hand and you will easily tell, there should be no movement at the uj /spider bearing but if it is the support bearing there will be a bit of axial movement which will not show up on the uj.
