Sorry this is my first post so not sure if its in the right place. Does anyone know any good ways to stop people stealing the stars off the old Grills (Its on a 190e). So far lost one and the new one they tried to nick but a bit too strong a new spring. Any electrolisation or alarms available? Thought about putting it onto the battery but i think that will just dissipate and give me a flat battery. Anyway any ideas welcome.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum with your 190e, I supose that when you have one of the best MB's ever made, other people want parts of it too.

Sadly you cant electrocute thieves when they are working or on duty, its against the law. other than making it detachable very hard to stop these things.

Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
Make a taser, and wire the terminals to your grille emblem.

You only need a 9V battery and a couple of components :)

The thing is then, if they were to be electracuted, how much would it peev them off to an extent that they would try and render your car useless?

I would recommend a product called Polonium. A light smearing on the star can prevent this vandalism as I found out recently on a trip to London. I think it makes the star slippery or something and therefore the thief can't get a grip - it works anyway because the last guy never came back for a second try ;)

Available from any good Army and Navy store (Moscow) or your local KGB outlet should stock it

The worst can happen if you try and pretect something is that the vandals will get angry and do much worse damage.

There was a guy about ten or fifteen years ago who was so fed up with vandals attacking his property that he wired his car/fence up to the mains voltage ............ the low life culprit got the shock of his life so to speak!!!.when he tried it again.
Unfortunatly the guy that was suffering at the hands of these vandals got sent down and had to pay compensation?????

Thanks for all the ideas, unfortunately it seems like we will all have to live with the sad fact that there are people who want what's not there's. Its a shame that MB don't just hand them out like VW did when they were in demand, however even if they did this i doubt it would stop them. Thanks Again
