Hi, hopefully someone can help me answer this question.
I bought my 2016 C250 AMG Line about 6 months ago and I didn’t have a push start button present.
I have just placed one in the car and it did press but a dash message came up saying remove push start and place key, however I didn’t have my foot on the brake at the time.

If I purchase a push button (eBay £59.00) for a genuine part, will it work or require coding?

Thanks for your help

Steve

Hi,
Thank you for the reply. Do I need the build sheet to know if I have that feature?

If you have a Three button key fob lock the doors with the key fob, put the fob in your pocket then put your hand down the back of the door handle, if the doors unlock then you have keyless go. If you want to defeat the scum that use scanners to pick up the key fob signal just press the lock button Twice in quick succession. This blocks the signal from the key fob. I do it every time I park the car. Hope this helps.

I have the 3 button fob but it doesn’t work on keyless entry. Does this mean my car isn’t coded for press start? Can I get it mapped in?

As said, the car must recognise it as when I used my nephews press button, a dash message came up telling me to remove the press start and insert the key.

My nephew has a 2016 (same year) GLC AMG Line.

Thank you

You don't need an expensive OE start button. The cheapo eBay ones do the job just the same.

Put your full 17 digit Vin # into this site and look for the Keyless entry/go option.

If its not there, you don't have keyless. It would be an extremely expensive option to retrofit.

Reading up on this, it says that 2016 cars should have keyless go as standard therefore I’ve ordered one and will see if it works.

Thank you for your help.

To check you have keyless start. enter your full 17digit Vin# without spaces into the link in my previous post and look for Option Code 889 which is the code for Keyless Go.

I did do that and it wasn’t on, unfortunately it looks like I don’t have that option but I did see a load of cool stuff it has got.
