Hello friends,

A quick question in regards to engine additives im refering to specifically performance related additives such as terraclean and the like. If any of you have used any such products or in fact have indeed had a terraclean service done id love to hear your thoughts.

Do a search on here for Terraclean etc., there's many opinions!

The general consensus is “they don’t do any harm” and some indeed may be beneficial.

Had mine done last year, car did feel smoother but may be a placebo effect

Didn't Ed from Wheeler Dealers try it out on one of the many programs -
I think he was also paid for an ad elsewhere so he may be biased...

I see there is alot of pros and cons so i think its one of those where you have to take the chance on whether it helps or not. I also saw a mchine on boggit and leggits youtube page and the machine claims to completely clean your system.

I love an additive as much as the next guy , but for me it's the expense of terraclean that puts me off . Have a look at Archoil AR6400 which is more my price bracket (or products by BG )

Ye thats very true. Iv been quoted £130 for my car. I saw some oil additives being tested on youtube and the best one that came out wad one called petron plus engine conditioner. The amount of torque they applied to it on a lubricity test was above 150 ft lbs. Amazing stuff.

He did. He also observed some direct effects from it iirc in that episode so it may well have done the job.

I've used their products occasionally. , I know people are often split on additives but I love some promotional bluuurb and sleep better knowing it's working away in the engine :D

I used Archoil in my C350 and E250. Never any issues and benefits are hard to quantify. But I like to have mechanical sympathy with cars.

In the C350 I used AR6400D or cataclean every 5k or so.

In the E250 I used AR6400D Max & AR9200

I tried the Archoil in my CDI and couldn't tell any difference in power or economy.

6 months later I tried BG245 and noticed an improvement in economy but not power. But I have to accept that the improvement in economy could well have been down to other factors...
