Just a thought, i have a 55plate c200 122BHP 2148cc diesel engine, i've noticed the c220 diesel engines are the same cc but 150 BHP
why is this? and is it a simple job to have the engine tuned to this?
has anyone on on here done the same, if so i would like to know if there is much difference

There the same engine, one is just mapped different to decrease the power in the 200!

Don't forget to tell your insurance company. I expect they are monitoring this site.

Yes. If you don't your policy will be null and void.

The later 220cdi engines (from 2006 I think -e.g. facelifted E class like mine) are 170 bhp and the changes are not just mapping. Turbo different and other bits apparently. Great engine IMO.

Total waste of time, had the superchip installed today, took the car for a spin, what a disappointment,
took the car on the motorway up to 80 and the car was flat, it even vibrated, not impressed at all, to be 100% honest the car was slower and had less torque after it had been fitted, anyway had it reversed and im happy again, waste of time, if i want more BHP i will buy a bigger merc

I have always been a fan of the American adage "there's no substitute for (cubic) inches". You can always drive a faster car slowly but you can't drive a slower car any faster than it was designed to go.

Consequently I have had 2 x 320 CDIs, one W211 and one W220 and I have found the power of each to be fine. I have contemplated mapping or chipping, but when you don't use the maximum thrust of these cars very often (you can't if you want to remain legal) then the only other argument would be fuel consumption, and break even would be a long time coming.
