Questions about about the NAVI system on a E220 d 2016

Hi,

Purchased a 2016 E220 d, new to Mercedes - always wanted one.

Newbie...

The car NAVI system does not have any SD card or USB stick. Do I need an SD card for the NAVI to work

I purchase one from ebay MB-2023 European Garmin Map Pilot SD Card ( Version 19), when trying the NAVI with the SD card inserted i see the following 'No memory card containing software installed'.

Any advise greatly appreciated.

That should be right but I wonder whether you need a software update as well? I’m not particularly familiar with the Garmin system but others may have a more definite view. Have you asked the Ebay seller as some of them are very helpful in matching the SD card to the car?

Asked the ebay seller , he said the SD should be work. - not really helpful

As I said, I don't know the system but I think that genuine cards may have software updates as well as map updates. Cards bought from Ebay are of variable quality and not all work. I would tell the seller it doesn't work and ask for a refund. If he doesn't co-operate, then raise a faulty item claim with Ebay and they may give you a refund.

My 2016 W213 had the card in the centre armrest and it had to be in for the Garmin nav to work.

its not very helpful re which in car entertainment system a merc car has - but for many other options its great to see how they built your specific car

The Garmin system needs an SD card for the maps. The Comand system (which I have) does not need an SD card (uses a built in HDD) although I have to use a card for personal points of interest such as saved destinations and the speed camera database.

Comand would have been a costly extra when new. The fact that your system is asking for an SD card suggests you have the Garmin Map Pilot system.
