Hi All,

Recently purchased 06 ML320 CDI Auto. Very pleased on the whole, but would welcome advice on a couple of things:- When the engine is cold, idle speed is 1400 rpm. Seems high to me, and means I have to ride the brakes in a 30mph speed limit. Settles down once engine temp reaches 90 degrees. Also transmission down-changes are rough, particularly when cold. Back to dealers again next week for software upgrade, but I suspect new valve body might be required (they claim to never have heard of this being done to cure the problem )

The above car is the same as my r,class, yes there is a update on the gearbox software, that will cure the up-shift and down-shift faults, the reason the revs are high in the morning is that the battery voltage is low and the engine ecu see,s this, hence higher tick-over more output from the alternator!!! all normal!!
