Hi guys,

I need a very quick advice from you (the auction finishes today).

I am looking for a set of alloys for the winter with tyres already fitted. I found these on eBay and they seem to be a good deal.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281215625425?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

The only thing is that the seller has confirmed that they are not genuine AMG, but that's about it, so I wondered if you could advice me to go for it or stay well away?

The car is CLK W209 200K. I need these to drive through Europe in 3 weeks, about 3000 miles over 1 week period.

Many thanks
Adam

just check the sizes of the wheel and as long as they match to what will fit your car you should be fine, it's a case of you pay your monies and takes you chances. replica wheels are fine to go for and as its only for use while your away they you should be OK.

see what others say.

He says he had them on the CLK. Will wait and see how the price goes and decide at the end. Thank you :)

I wouldn't buy reps - wheels are a safety critical item and judging by some of the gear that appears on Fake Britain, some of it is poor quality.

I can't say these are no good, I'm just saying it's a risk I'd not take.

Just for winter, you make take a different view.

I have asked the seller if they are genuine, as above I also know that they are not

If they go for below or around £400 I might take them, any more I would reather get non-AMG but genuine

He has responded saying they are replicas :D

And the ad says
Rim Manufacturer: AMG

I reckon that's misleading to the point of dishonesty. Especially seeing that at least two people have asked, and he hasn't updated the ad or added the questions.

IIRC you can only change details on an item up until the last couple of days of the sale, so if he only has it on a 3 day auction he may not be able to change/correct his mistake?

I need a very quick advice from you (the auction finishes today).

Whenever I need quick advice on buying copies, this old saying often helps....
Buy in haste, repent at leisure.
