Hi Guys
need a little advice here. lost my O/S UK Drivers Side, tail light. Auxillary activated, tried changing light bulb holder only to find no joy. searched on line and found its a common problem. There was a warrenty issue. I therefore need one of these. My question therefore is where does this connect I can see from the harness there is two power wires and an earth. However I cannot find where to connect this. any help appreciated. 2C07DE20-3444-4B5E-A9C8-9DC7329A7704.jpeg

I don't remember any of the bulb holders on my R Class having any loom attached ... just different holders between the stop/tail & fog lights and the indicator bulbs. Bulbs were fitted to the holders & they in turn were fitted to the back of the lens.

Hi Emilys dad that right. but there is an issue when the bulb holders stop making a connection with the metal strips on the back of the light fitting and Merc have introduceda light bulb holder with a driect feed. However I cant see where or what it connects to. is it a case that i have to a feed from the orginal loom…?

I see. I did have a problem where a holder had arced at some time and the track on the lens was burnt, so to get the lamp to work I had to back the bulb off slightly.
I would think that the plug on your new loom plugs into the main loom somewhere ... maybe the original loom piggy backs onto the new bit

Or you cut your existing wires (brown and red) and feed into the junction box.
Without looking at the existing loom on your car thats just a pure guess/assumption.

Is your W251 pre or post facelift.

Did you google that part number as sometimes it may throw up fitting instructions.

Hi mioba
many thanks for your relpy and efforts. I had seen the video you posted, but as I had already bought the fitting from Merc @ a cost of £15.

Therefore I figured, ”You’ve bought, it imight as well use it”. I guess I was being a little lazy, as I was hoping that someone had some knowledge, as to where it might just be “Plug N Play” But not the case it seems. I had sourced a video that I found on another form. HERE which is a little bit of a work around and uses the fittment I purchase and it‘s still far better than paying £150 for a second hand light for it to only happen again.

Ok guys I’ve fitted the above device however the side light doesn’t come on straight away the break lights work ok but the side light has a 16 second delay then it comes on. Can anyone suggest a reason for the delay
