Just had a mooch round underneath. can anyone enlighten me as to what the 2 switches are on the rear suspension wishbones. they would appear to be acuated when more load is applied to rear .maybe increasing brake force on rear brakes ,when more load is sensed in back .known as load sensing in the truck business.just curious
cheers Steve

I think what you're describing are the roll bar tilt sensors.

They detect tilt within the axle and causes the roll bar to deploy. Has been known to happen when raising the car up on a ramp!

As Stats says they are roll bar swiches that trigger the roll bar when the car is tilted beyond a certain angle, later cars only have one in the center, on the last serries it is in the car.

Thats an odd place to put them, i'd have put money on them being ride height sensors for the self leveling suspension, live and learn i guess.

One could think that, that's why they got moved over the years and the last version had it under the rear seat/armrest. I have never gone into the ADS on this car.

The later cars have crash sensors. ADS isn't very common - I have only seen it on a couple of 500s - standard on the V12 but you'd have to be pretty brave to own one of those!

S83/2 is the rollbar switch.

Stats any idea how well the 600 handles, I do not know how old you are, but in the days of the MGB that handled well, they brought out the C,and that was awful, front end heavy.
Reading the US forums where they use them, they don't really relate to English driving.

The C was a V8 wasn't it?

I've only driven one once - the ADS obviously helps but you're well aware of the 150kg extra up front!

SLs aren't particularly sporty anyway - you can't get away from the fact they're a 2-ton car.

I will tell you what, I have to look twice after typing to make sure that I have not included the word anti.

The engine came from the Austin Westminster and the head alone was a two man lift.
