Hi, I’ve been supplied part no. A202270219664 by Mercedes as a replacement part for A2022702196 but it is a completely different length, has anyone had this issue and is there a work around to get this to fit? This is the pipe that connects onto the radiator for gearbox hydraulic fluid cooling. Any info would be gratefully accepted. Thanks.

Have you asked MB parts if that’s the correct part ?

I have asked and sent them pictures but have been told this the replacement. I’m waiting on a call back from Mercedes.

Could you post a pic showing them side by side ( or as near as possible) ?

There is about 3” to add onto the old pipe, it corroded at the clip and broke off when dismantled.

Given that the shiny pipe is the new one (and the black one seems to have a bit missing). I can't see it as being the right one...in the past I've seen the wrong part, but having the correct nr. Could be the same in this case too.

I gave them the correct part no. and they said it had been superseded by the new part. I’ve subsequently had a conversation with MB today and they want to charge me another £100 for the correct part, they don’t t seem to grasp the fact that I have gave the the correct part no. to start with and they said it had been replaced! I’ve had to get a work around until I can get this resolved. I had a hydraulic hose made up by the local Company which works a treat. I’ll post the result of my discussions with MB.

Update: Apparently on MB’s system this is shown as a generic parts for this range, and it seems the only sure way to get the correct part is to give them the VIN. They have now ordered the correct part from Germany, not sure how as I didn’t give them the VIN! The parts manager at my branch has never come across this before. Lesson learnt, ALWAYS give your VIN.

I'd pretty much guarantee the correct part starts either 129 or 140 (remote possibility it's 107).

I can understand you ( or anyone else ) trying to keep the car original and to spec by using the proper parts, but if your manufactured pipe is working 100% why change it? or at least be in a hurry?

The manufactured pipe was in desperation as I needed the car, thought I’d add the solution if anyone was in the same situation. Not sure if I’m going to change out when the correct tube arrives.

Its what I'd do if it were me...its working fine now, and changing it means more loosening and tightening the connections on the trans and the Radiator....the rad I'd be especially carefull of. These do not take a lot of hardship. Plus, its quite possible that your manufactured pipe wil be more durable than the MB one, after all, look at what happened the original???
