I have a 91 500sl I changed my hydraulic cylinders for the hard top now the passenger door is hard to shut the front top of window hits the the rubber first so you almost have slam it the gap between the back of hardtop and the car is lower on the passenger side and passenger door closes fine what cylinder do you think needs to be adjusted I was told there isn't any adjustments with the cylinders do you think it's the pins on hardtop and it leaks now at the windshield pillars and top

Need this

Welcome, I have sent it:D:D

Television,
I just purchased a 2001 R129 with the AMG styling pack. I'm loving the car but I have the A-Pillar leak. The weather striping along the hardtop has detached a bit in the center. I'm hoping that your instructions can help. I know this thread is old but if you have time could you send them to me? My email is Andrew.Bryan1991@gmail.com. Thanks in advance

Sorry there have been some changes on the forum,, we found that people would join just for a job sheet. This was taking too much of my time so now I will still send info out, but you must now be a member of a short few weeks at least and made a few post.

cool

I'm excited to be a part of the Benz community. Thanks for getting back to me. It's raining now and I really need to figure this thing out. lol  Loving the Benz, true effortless power and comfort. Hands down 100% better than my bimmer. Let me know when I've met the requirements. Thanks for being responsive to a newbie.

Best,
Andy

If the hard top A rail is leaking and the soft top is not leaking, then all one has to do is to take out the screws 38 holding the metal strip 23 remove the strip.

Apply a thin bead of sealer (non drying mastic type)all the way along and replace the strip, do not over tighten the screws, test that the roof pulls down OK then wipe off the surplus mastic with a spirit like petrol etc.

You do not have to replace the sealing cord 29.

Hi, I have bought a new hardtop. I have checked the gap between the rear window and fender as per instructions, the gap is a about right at the edges (5.5mm) and in the middle of the rear window is about 3mm too wide. Can this be corrected by adjusting the 4 pins or do i have a buckled roof? Also, in the instructions it mentions adjusting the pins - do you do this with the roof on or off the car? I am nervous about performing this adjustment through fear of screwing the roof up.. any feedback much appreciated..

What I always do is to use the manual lock to test the strength needed to close each lock in turn, it is the only way to check each pin on the roof. you can get a fair idea from the soft top locks, and the hard top should be the same pressure, always set the hard top, and never the sot top adjustments.

You'll probably find its the windows need adjusting.
Pig of a job to get right as there are about 6 adjustments and they're not exactly clear.
