r129 main roof lifting cylinder repair

My 98 roof was slow lifting the other day and low and behold a pool of oil appeared on the floor soon after. so my main lifting hydrophilic cylinder is leaking. i bought a full seals kit, £18 and thought i would google it once it arrived, as i've done the front latching cylinders before no problem.

But much to my surprise, there are no google vids to watch? Loads of the front latches, but i cant find one, on rebuilding the main cylinder from a 98. I took the cylinder off and the seal kit turned up from Germany and according to packet, for 89 -01, so all years. But the main ram seals are different to mine and it looks like this changed around 96/96, going by pictures on google?

Anybody have any tips, links to rebuilds on these?

U might find seals at a oil seal and bearings outfits I just googled there are plenty. They shud be able to refer u. If need be
When you open the cyl be wary of hidden grub screws and makers desire to make any DIY as much hassle as possible but getting at seals shud not be rocket science.
Ah enlarged ur pic u hav it in bits shud be easy enough.

As above they should be standard size Viton o rings and seals. Should be easy to source. Just make sure they are Viton, there is no wear or scratches on the sliding parts and everything is scrupulously clean when you reassemble it.

I need to do one of mine sometime as it is weeping. No rush though as it's in storage waiting for its 30th birthday before being registered in France.

A little info for you @ajlsl600 - it appears that at 30 years old and older it's CTs every 5 years and import taxes are much lower.

figured it out in the end, unscrew the square bit off the top of the ram, (very very tight, hold the ram in a vice with protection around it to stop scratching it) then slid the seal carrier off and you can see the Viton seal. just suprized there were no google vids showing the procedure. Guess i should do one myself!
