R129 / SL320 Window Issue's - Help Needed (URGENT!!).

Hi All...

After much time and money spent on finding out what was going on with my Windows and why they are not working and also why have the windows come out of the runners and sticking out wards.

I discovered the fuse had gone for the drivers side window.

Now i am stuck with a new problem. Heres the history - I sent the car to a Mercedes Specialist a few weeks back and they told me that the Multi Function Control Unit had gone which cost a lot of money. Now i was always under the impression that if this unit fails then none of the windows or roof will work.

But heres the catch. the Passenger window was working fine before i gave it in and now it isnt, the drivers window was the only window which was not working, they didnt even check the fuse box in the boot to see if any of the fuses had gone.

So, to sum up, I think it was the fuse which had gone for the drivers window, not the control unit, as my passenger window was working fine. Now both the windows are not working and are now sticking out of there runners and not staying within the frames of the window. I have tried to take the door card off and adjust the window from the L shaped window stopers and also from the bottom of the door where you have the 2 x 13mm bolts. But the windows wont budge. Not having the best of luck. I have also tried the re-set sqeuence using the electric window buttons, but this isnt working as the windows are no longer going up or down.

What do i have to do? Do i have to go the Mercedes them selves and get the windows re-set and syncronised (whats the cost)? or could i go to somehere else to get it done? or is it now , that my control unit has gone?

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

P.S. its getting worse, as it has started to rain and water in getting in the car..

i think the next 3 numbers are 820 (129 820), but i will have to double check that when i get back home. Hope this helps for now.

320's start with 063 or 064 the window feature dropping only came in in 09 95 and earlier versions cant be made to drop.

The 064 cars have window modules and windows must always be re set by closing the door and in key 2 hold the button down for 10 sec after the window has closed, and the same in the up mode, if this is not done the roof will not lower

tried the re set squence you suggested, but it didnt work. the windows didnt even a "mm", now im stuck, what could i do now? any ideas

The VIN displayed in the lower area of the windscreen - give that to Malcolm.
