During my recent research I found lower control arms/wishones from Febi-Bilstein to show the same units for all W124s except 24V but inc E500, W201s and R129s including AMG.

Now I remember some posts by some of our most knowledgeable members saying "if you want to improve handing the best value for money mod is to upgrade your bushes"

Hence if the Wishbone on the R129 is the same as the W124 and the 500SL is likely to to have stiffer bushes, is buying 500SL wishbones not a good upgrade and will it fit?

The 129 just shares lots of 124 components, I think that they have the same number.

Wishbones for the 124 sportline models come with stiffer bushes, but then you are into the need to upgrade the antiroll bar too, as the sportline models use a thicker one and the sportline wishbones have larger recesses to take a larger bar.

In all honesty by opinion is you are wasting your time - you will not notice the difference on normal roads.

Just get the standard car working as best it can work, or swap to a more powerful later model.

In terms of refinement, the Merc engine suspension mounts will be unbeatable.
Yes they are fluid filled and will last another (what ?) 10/15 years.
