Hi, does anyone have an idiots guide to removing the housing around mirror/interior lights on a 1995 R129 SL? Trying to access the unit to investigate whirring noise, maybe the climate sensor fan? Been told that giving it a clean can stop the whirring sound!!

Hi,

I presume you mean the overhead unit.
The mirror pulls out. Pull down on it but watch out for the cables for auto dimming. The rest of the housing is screwed on. Two screws under the mirror and one under each of the reading light lenses. The light lenses just clip out.
Beware of brittle plastic, maybe warm it up first with a hair dryer.
There are a few YouTube clips I am sure.
