Thanks Richard
Not been able to work on the car my backs out again.
Look at this video on u-tube . 92 SL500 ASR light on , accelerator pedal hard to press part 2.
On part 1 he changed his potentiometor but this did not change anything but he tested a orange wire for voltage and the car came back to life. But once he turned off again back came the ASR problem, so he asked for any help. 1 guy said cut 3 blue and white wires coming from the ABS unit, this is oppsite the mas module. But another guy said next. Do not do that only 1 is for the ABS the other 2 are for the indicators right and left. He than chased the wires to a grounding block at the back near the bulkhead, 4 to 6 inchs away in the same area. He undid these started the car but all the dash lights came on. he then reconnected the wires and the ASR problem goes away.
God a hope this happens to me. Will try over the weekend. Before watching this video i did try to start the car but before it started a got a horn sound and now my right indicator front ,back & side stayed on. Had to pull the fuse because even with the car locked its on.
Also my ABS light is working But does not come on with the car running. Car starts at idle but cuts out when you put your foot down and ASR light comes on. Says in the book that when the ASR light comes on you will have 2/3 engine power but i just have idle.
Thanks
Rob

That’s an interesting video.

It sounds like you may have electrical issues which could be part of the ASR problems as well.

The car is ALIVE!!
Because of the lockdown and where my car is i could not work on it until this week. Before i did the above with the ground wires i found a ABS cable 540 7009 it goes from the front right wheel up into the engine bay next to where you put the dot4 in. That was the problem so i thought BUT no. bought the cable from germany and it had to be that one because i have ADS. 85 euros and its in great condition but like i said that ended up not being the problem. This is how i fixed it.
Found the ground wire block its under a plastic cover on the left where all the computers for the car are. Undid the ground wires there were 4 of them. Started the engine and all the lights came on in the dash.Put one back on at a time but that did not fix it. Took all the ground wires off again and went back 2 days later. Why? had a problem with the alarm once going off every night and undid that from the box in the boot and left it off for 2 days , when i put it back on i never had another problem since.
2 days late put all 4 ground wires back on , started the engine NO ASR light just the suspension light. Put my foot down and shes back to life. The only thing is i now have the suspension showing a problem 9-6. Turned the wheel left/right and thought that would make the light go away but no. tested it and the above came up ADS 9-6. Going to look at that over the weekend.
Looked at so many ASR problems on here and other forums and alot do not have the ending were its been fixed. Hope this helps some one with this dreaded asr problems.
Thanks
Rob

Just wanted to add that after driving the car for 2 days i used the code reader on the suspension fault 9-6 and cleared the code. The light on dash has gone and the car is now back to its old self.
The car drive great just hope that ASR stays as it is. I could have spent alot of money changing good parts and a ground wire solved the problem.
