Argh!

After 8 months trouble free, our '98 SLK has developed a problem with the boot lid - it won't shut - it simply seems to bounce abd the lock won't engage.

I had to try 3 or 4 times the other day to shut it, but now it won't close at all. The little arm in the lock will come across if you push up the mechanism with a screwdriver, but I can't get the boot to close. Fiddling with the central locking and boot keyhole doesn't seem to make any difference.

Has anybody any ideas? I have had water in the lock on one occasion (it came out when I opened the boot), as described in another thread - could that be the cause?

cheers,

Hi
Try pressing the roof button to the closed position a couple of times sometimes if its not down tight it leaves the lock slightly out of line, had this problem before when the roofs not been down for a while.

Well, no joy with anything, so off to the local Merc independent on Monday. Hope it's not sunny this weekend - gutted that it went wrong on a really nice weekend as it is.
