Hi,

I'm having a problem with my SLK's electric windows, in that they don't unroll the 10mm (or there abouts) when you open the door to relieve the air pressure when closing it.

Is there a way to reset the windows as my TT sometimes did this but by holding the window close switch in the up position for approx 5 seconds it would sort it out.

Cheers,
Paddy

Holding the button up for 10 sec in key 2 should reset them

Are they supposed to do this?

Mine don't move either and I never gave it a thought that they should. My doors don't shut fully if you don't give them a bit of a slam but I just put it down to good sealing around the doors and windows.:)

Mine neither - I just thought the car was built like the old VW Beetle, where (apocryphally?) you couldn't close the doors unless the air vents were open.

However, I believe some of the later R170's did have this feature. Can anyone confirm this, and if so, from what date?

I've checked the handbook and there's no mention of this feature in there so maybe it's only on either early or very late models.

Just checked and nothing listed for them dropping at all, not for any year.

What I got a guy to do on a 208 was to insert some cardboard about the thickness on the amount to clear the roof, then do a re set by holding the switch upwards foe 10 sec in key 2 with the cardboard in and that worked well

Post #13 in this link suggests that some cars do have this feature.

Maybe it's just US cars, or maybe he's talking about R171's (do they have it?).

I have been through every 170 and they are all the same, the 171 uses a CAN bus on the windows and is very different

They dont have this feature on the 170 slk.

If its catching the seals it needs adjusting.

Adjustment is made when door panel is off
