I'm reposting....same text...but with pictures
Mods can delete the other thread?

I've just received one of these wind deflectors from the US.
http://www.windblox.com/styles/slk_2004.htm

All up it cost £120 at the current exchange rate.
This included US$32 for postage, $20 for a vinyl bag, $15 extra for Lexan instead of acrylic, and $10 for clear vinyl straps instead of black velcro.
I chose Lexan rather than acrylic as it is much stronger.
The exttra cost of the clear plastic straps was minimal and I can always acquire black Velcro straps in UK if they don't work out.
I chose this model as it was £120 versus about £250+ for the German versions (TUV approved). That's decent value compared to the £420 that MB charged my colleague for the deflector on the R171.

Verdict?
It's a good product, if you don't mind the visual effect of the straps. The German model uses the clothes hooks on the back cabin bulkhead to attach to the car....neater, but at over double the price, not worth it.

I'm wondering whether black velcro might be better, less shiny and therefore less obvious than the vinyl straps. That's my only thought, othewise I'm pleased.

I have tested it, and all seems well. No movement after a thorough !!!! !!! test. Straps are still tight. There are no reflections of the instrument lights at night.
With the top up it is invisible in the rear mirror, except for a slight line about 2/3rds of the way up the rear window. I can now tell exactly what is behind me, rather than having to guess if that Volvo that is steaming up the slip road behind me  has a blue tinge around the radiator and the wing mirrors, if you know what I mean. Much better visibility than the mesh.
Draughtwise, it's a bit better than the mesh too.
I wouldn't bother buying the bag to stow it in. Although the bag is well made, fits and looks well etc, you won't need it, as you can leave the deflector fitted top up or down.
Decent shopping experience too. It took a couple of weeks to arrive, but good email contact with Tim, the vendor. Tim declared it as an 'antique car part', so there was no customs duty either.

Overall: Recommended.....I'll certainly let you know if I have problems at all.
Regards Phil

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
The wide industrial Belcro would look better, it comes about 25mm wide

Velcro

The slots are a good two inches wide...I guess Velcro is available in that size too.
Really you need 'double sided' velcro....hooks on one side of the tape and the eyes on the other.
I'll see how it goes.
