R171 SLK Sun Visor Lights do not work

Sun Visor Lights do not work. There are two electric connector on the roof clip and two little connectors on the sun visor arm. See photos. Well if I put a wire across the tow connectors on the clip, the light comes on. If I put a continuity test on the electrodes on the arm there is nothing. So I take it that there must be a connection between the two visor arm connectors inside the are that has failed. I think that if I solder a small wire between the two visor arm electrodes it will work again. What do you think?

I did a “how to” in the DIY section many years ago (although the pictures will have gone with tinypic dying)
There’s a small micro-switch that opens when you open the cover. Take the mirror surround apart and work the switch whilst spraying contact cleaning lubricant into it and it should start working again.
