Have a replacement Aux Battery on the way to replace a 12 year old Battery which is long past its sell by date. Can i just disconnect the auxiliary battery and replace with the new battery or do i have to disconnect the starter battery before disconnecting the auxiliary battery. Is there a Process for a R230?

Just disconnect the Negative lead first, and reconnect Negative lead last. No need to disconnect the starter battery

On a 230 the battery in the boot is the Aux battery. That can be disconnected and reconnected no problem. If changing the small battery under the bonnet disconnect the auxiliary first.

Ok I'll be the one to ask. How on earth did you get 12 years out of a R230 aux battery?:D

Thanks for the comments re removing the auxiliary battery in the boot, reassures me that the renewal of that Battery is as easy as originally thought. Correct Bosch one arrived today to replace the Bosch fitted by a Bentley specialist Aug 2011, what also is surprising was the starter battery was replaced
by Watford Mercedes 05/05/2011. Still holding up well surprisingly. Re the longevity of the auxiliary battery. It has had help from a junior Daventry charger which i use during times of non driving. About 40+years old, inherited but does the job. :)
