Back with my second issue since buying my 230 350sl. Well not really an issue but just a worry.
I believe the engine number from which the balancer shaft teeth are no longer a problem is 2729 30 469933.
My engine number starts with an 11 and I haven't seen any with this number so I presume that can be ignored. My sl is a 2004 and the engine number is 2973 31 861931 which is higher than the 30 so I should be all right. The thing is mine is a 2004 build not just registered and the upgraded shafts appear after 2006. Am I misinformed or am I lucky enough to have a later engine in my car ?
Thanks for any information you can share.

The 3.7 in the SL350 doesn't suffer this issue.
