Hi,

Having a problem with the fuel filler cap. Sometimes when opening the central locking it flicks open. The electrics seem fine as you can see the pin move in and out when using the key fob, but the internal plastic piece in the hole doesn't move out of the way sometimes.

I have uploaded a video to youtube to explain what I mean. Any ideas of a remedy please?? Link below... you can see at the beginning of the video the pin working, and at 26secs the pin pushing against the plastic in the way...

Apologies in advance for poor filming!!!

Thanks

Jay

M6 Cab - prior to that, SL63 AMG, A-M V8 Vantage, SL55, SL500 and many more
I'd blast some PTFE spray all around & in the area where the bar slides in & out as a starter

I have never been to this part of the car, but there are threads here on this problem, cant remember if a new vacuum actuator or ptfe in the hole, you can get to it with the lining removed/ pulled back on that side

Most 230 owners come on line every day and they will see your post.

I thought about that after I wrote it,,, but its true, many have ongoing problems, but not on Wednesdays.

Smart + others :)
Looks like the small catch is on it's way out. This is available separately as I had mentioned in an earlier thread somewhere on here.

Hi all,

I located the other thread: http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=83240&highlight=fuel+gremlin

Fixed the problem today... I took all of ten minutes... Mechanism is easily located behind the carpet in boot... you only need to undo one carpet clip. The mechanism is clipped into place so a little tug and it comes away. There is a yellow vacuum line attached which you can undo, but I just opened it up whilst still attached. My spring had popped out of place... put in back and all good now.... easy fix... ten minute jobbie at tops....:D no more flappy flap...
