Am purchasing a 2003 SL350.
It has a stereo/basic GPS, Bluetooth for telephone only ..
I need a system that has Bluetooth for telephone & music, DAB, SAT NAV (live) ... not bothered about video ... (NO Bose speakers) ....
Can anyone advise on what/where/when/how please?
many thanks in advance!
:)

Pretty much your only choice are the Android based ones from China.

Ah. Oh. No. Hmm. OK. Thank you.... Do you know if the steering wheel buttons will still work with a Chinese system? Thank you

Get your VIN and contact comand.co.uk, they are not only MB ICE experts and forum sponsors, they are also very knowledgeable on aftermarket units and will give good advice. They also fit them!

@gramey is the man to answer any questions on these but I believe if you get one which is designed for use in an R230 they will.

If you're not close to Lightwater Surrey, they can also possibly point you to someone more local to you who can assist.

I have an identical unit in my car and I'm keen to update. Comand in Lightwater (Also trading as Unique) are the experts. They've quoted me £1600 to install what looks like the perfect solution.

I'll be booking my car in with them in the spring.

Do you really want a WinCE based unit which will have very limited app support? They are very outdated but I guess COMAND may not have updated the specs.
Current models are android based using an octacore PX5 CPU with 4Gb RAM and 32Gb or more for storage.

Here is mine installed which I was fortunately able to do myself.

I can see there are android units available for the SL for around £450.

Which unit is that one? Looks good.
I havexa problem doing mine in that it's got D2B fibre optic to a Bose amp.

It is the Erisin one as they have a UK outlet and stock - https://www.erisin.com/erisin-es786...z-cclkg-class-w203-w209-vito-viano_p1066.html

With the Bose amp you are really looking at either fitting a replacement amp or running speaker cables.
These android head units have line outs for external amp ;)
Cheers. D2B is a proper pain.
I was hoping to be able to bypass the optical input on the Bose amp and go direct to the analogue stage but it appears there may be problems doing that (relating to power up and power down of the amp). It's pretty much all that's holding me back to be honest as I'd prefer to keep the Bose if possible.

You can probably keep the Bose badges on the speaker grills if that's a help...
