2004 SL350
Hi, new to this forum but hoping someone can asnwer my query.
I have a 2004 SL350 bought from new but I couldn't afford the upgraded wood steering wheel. Having bought one from ebay, I now have the worry that the part may not be compatible with my vehicle. I am about to send it to a workshop to get it installed but before forking out for a few hours labour thought I would check here for help.

The car is 2004, the part no. is B66268473 and looks identical to my current steering wheel bar the wood. Having become anxious I have done some research and appears the part no is only suited to cars from 2006 onwards. I have been told I actually require part no. B66270901 but I really cannot see any difference other than the 350 additonal pounds this one costs!

If anyone can shed any light it is appreciated. My car doesn't have paddle shifts and is as standard as the car came when new!

This one is listed as an option go to this site

http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/cat/cats/m.mycat?cat=mb&client=dr2000

click on cars, go to you car by the VIN first 6 numbers, click on it, then Europe, then steering, then wheel and you have every part number,, you can compare this against the newer car also.

The only difference that I know is on the air bag and not the wheel

that's great television, just looked at the link and the part number shows up under my VIN so presume that means it should fit like for like, just using the original airbag unit as I hoped.
Cheers for all your help.

The is a difference in the clock springs under the wheel,,but this affected the air bag and not the wheel, but there is no difference as you say,,they are nice to have :D:D

I have one on mine which I absolutely love - it's contoured a la AMG and I've fitted AMG flappy paddles. Much nicer than the standard steering wheels.

cheers JonnyCJ. Don't think I've got the nerve to start adding flappy paddles, and too lazy to move it out of auto...

I am about to fit a Tooki MB Bluetooth system - does anyone have any experience of these?

Hi jareddavis, can you share you experience on the wheel, which is the correct one, I too have 2004 SL350, was it an easy and inexpensive swap ?

It is a dead easy swap with the right one, but you do need to know what is fitted to your car.

Clock springs and steering wheel change

Sl350 2006 with older steering wheel. I have purchased amg paddle flat bottom which is from a newer 2011 c class I think. I have tried to fit today and the wheel fits the splines and is fine apart from the clock springs. The other part is the air bag connections and also the canbus controls, but the wiring to the air bag looks similar two wire in each plug, even the canbus wires look similar four in a plug, but plug is slightly different. On this basis does anyone know if I can just simply swap it over? The plugs look simple to pop the old wires out and retro fit the new ones. Many thanks in advance
;)
