Hi all, newbie looking for help with a “small” problem..
Getting no joy on usual forum
I need to replace the n/s headlight on my SL350 05 Reg.
The OE Part No is A2308206161.
Can source a used headlight off a SL500, Part No A2308207361
Anyone have any idea if this is compatible ?
Any help would be very much appreciated as car now out of MOT
and need to get back on the roads ASAP

im not really sure sometimes lights need to be coded in. not sure if this model need that tho. there is a couple of the correct parts your looking for on eBay around the £250 mark not sure what's your looking at paying? also depending whether the other light has come off the same driving side vehicle.

Thanks for your advice..see the one on eBay for £250.
Problem with it is that it has 1 Part No on the listing and another Part No on the picture..
Tried to getting a definitive answer off him but might as well talk to a post ‍♂️
So was thinking if either part fitted i could take the chance and but it anyway

Yes. That Part is compatible with your SL.

Scroll down far enough and you'll find both Part numbers in this EPC for the SL 230.467.
There were a lot of part numbers for the front lights, every one should fit, they have just been superseded by a newer part.

Have you had it diagnosed properly, as the nsf Sam controls the headlamp and is known failure.
By the SAM, do you mean the Ballast module ?
If so, my local garage advised this was the fault, but suggested I take it to an Auto-sparks
for confirmation, they also advised this was the issue.
Bought replacement which they fitted but turns out it was NOT the fault…now advised
it’s the headlight that is the fault…
i have my doubts but not sure best way around it other than to buy headlight and
fit it….can always re-sell if it is not the problem…
BUT, what else could it be, I would imagine there are not too many other parts that
could be causing the fault..

No SAM is “Signal Acquisition Module” a fancy fuse box that controls electrical items.

The plot thickens !!
Could this affect just the one headlight at a any given, or is it more likely would both be affected

Yes it can. One of the most common faults on here, especially at this time of year, due to all the Rain we have been having.

Managed to get my SL dry and into the garage, which is where it will be staying for the duration.

My SAM had an ill fitting lid before I bought the car and once the horn was pressed it wouldnt stop blowing!
Neither would the easy access work, where the steering wheel moves out of the way when you turn the ignition off.

Will ask the Auto-sparks if they checked this before determining it was the headlight itself
They say they checked everything and determined the headlight is u/s.
have new headlight and booked in next week for fit BUT have another issue now with the Aux battery
being flat and the boot will not open…opened a new thread (R230 Boot won’t open) and hopefully will get a result from this ..
