The tool roll is missing from my wheel insert, have the 12v pump but no tools. Don't really know what is should have or what it looks like. Perhaps someone could guide me?

Google "SL500 tool kit" and there are 2 on eBay for ~£70, complete.

Has anyone noticed on Chasing Classic Cars the huge value difference on the Mercedes and Ferrari's when they have the original tool roll?
IIRC a 300SL has over $20K added because it had the original roll included in the sale.

£70 cough. Mind you if it adds 10k in 30 years time then a good investment.

I just bought the individual missing tools to complete my CL's tool kit A 10-8mm open ended spanner, a 14-17mm one and an adjustable pipe wrench. All Heyco/ Mercedes branded, cost me under £15 on eBay. I couldn't go and buy those tools new from Halfrauds for that.

If it were me, I'd buy the tool roll just to make the car complete.

    Come again?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-SL...b117d4&item=262155605972&vxp=mtr#ht_673wt_922

There's another thread I just found which has this useful snippet for the R230:

"Spare fuses, two fuse ''tools'', a screw driver (changeable slotted/cross head), two open ended spanners (8,10,13,17), an ''Allen'' key, a screw in towing eye, an ''adjustable'' wrench, your locking wheel nut ''key'' and a pair of cotton gloves."

I just managed to get the spanners and adjustable off eBay, there are plen ty of Merc/ Heyco branded ones around. Ditto towing eyes.

    Don't want a LHD toolkit.

Don't spose mine will ever go wrong anyway...

Just turn it upside down and hey presto!

Erm, being serious, what's the difference handedness-wise (if that's indeed a word) RHD to LHD on the toolkit? Is the Merc logo stanped on the other side of the tools?

Buy the tools individually and make it up yourrself, you'll probably do it for under £50. I gave you a list of the tools.

The tools are not handed, the wheel peg locator is only £7 new from Mercedes

You have taken me back to 1950 when I can now remember using the knurling tool in the cutter head. :D:D

All set up in the garage. Dad is a time-served fitter-turner, we have a beautiful little centre lathe, milling head, auto screw thread cutting feed, Coventry auto die heads, knurling tools, dividing heads, the works. Quite often when we need something as a family, we'll make it bespoke (that's why my huuge air frame tent has an electric pump water system, no jerry cans with fiddly little taps for me! :D )

    Guys, stop hijacking my thread.

If you were any good you'd have made me a RHD kit by now. And wallet.
