Hi all,
I’m at my wits end on the height issues with my car and am reaching out to you good folk who can hopefully give me a solution. I have a 2003 R230 SL55 AMG. I’ve changed all 4 new struts, flushed the hydraulic oil and replaced the main hydraulic line. When the car is driven the height between top of wheel and wheel arch is 2 inches in front and 3 inches in rear. After leaving it overnight the height drops by 1 inch in front & 2 inches in rear. There are no ABC warning lights on dash. Also the height doesn’t drop any further. I also note that the right side is very slightly higher by half inch on both front & rear compared to the left side. FYI my car is a RHD one. I have done the height calibration at the dealer but the issue still remains. My last resort is to try the valve block repair kit for both front & rear but before dumping more $$ I’m hoping someone can help.

Assuming running pressures are within specc it would likely be valve block needing resealing. Cleanliness is paramount. I had to mess about with mine long ago to get my ride heights within half inch. Left to right rear.
Also Yr not topping up fluid I assume?
Do you have any relevant codes., level sensor issues.

There are also 3 accumulators that can sort of fail, they get internal leaks, which irritates the system.

I let my 2003 R230 sit for about 4 years, and it was getting the ABC errors when I did.

Bottom line, new pump (was not putting out enough pressure) new accumulators, I think one rebuilt valve body. None of the struts were leaking and none were replaced.

Now all perfect, but it was $13,000 worth of parts and labor.

It's amazing what a new or rebuilt valve blocks will do ;)

$13,000 for a new ABC pump is a very special price.

I would expect to pay under a grand fitted.

The valve blocks are leaking. Or there is a huge amount of air in the system but I'd be surprised at a 2 inch drop from air.

Did you follow the bleed procedure (not just rodeo)
