Hi guys,

Front brakes (not sure if both or just one side) have started squealing. It seems to be just when hot.

Brakes only have about 3-4k miles on them. Pagid are the brand.

Now, i'm not 100% sure but it seems the squeal isn't directly proportional to the pedal press. i.e. sometimes you press and it squeals on and off, all the time with the brake pressed at a consistent pressure.... this has made me wonder if there could be a hub issue?

Thoughts?

Perhaps I should just go OEM in future?

M6 Cab - prior to that, SL63 AMG, A-M V8 Vantage, SL55, SL500 and many more
I've had a squeal from a couple of cars (never R230 though) - it could be that you have harder pads. Either way, the method of stopping it was to take the car up to speed (70 mph) and the hit the brake hard - bring it back down to (say) 10 mph, then repeat - that tends to get the pads "shaved off"

Hmm guys,

I went out the other day and rinsed the brakes hard. i.e. The bedding in process, which I actually did when they were fitted new.

The brake still squeal like crazy.. sometimes worse than others.

I am thinking of trying another set up front now.

Check how loose the pads are in the callipers, they need to be pretty tight but not binding obviously, have you tried the anti squeal stuff ? It worked for me. I think MB specify it in their kit.

I guess I will take the wheels off and inspect soon then. I didn't fit these ones actually, but I usually use anti squeal.

How do I check the pads and more importantly, what adjustments can be made if they seem loose?

See if they're a loose fit that could contribute to the squealing. Can sometimes be improved with the anti squeal paste. See what you find and report back.
