Very often its the connection on the passenger seat, it will still need STAR to turn it off

I think just the long connector, it will be the yellow wires

As Malcolm says, very often the connector under the front of the seat. Look for the yellow plug on the far N/S (outside) of the seat.

Had car in today for diagnostics check on SRS,outcome was that the airbag control module was offline and needs replaced, also I was told it can be caused by the ignition switch being faulty, before I jump in and spend££££££,has anyone had a similar diagnosis.my indie said he has seen this before not to sure what diagnostic system he uses I assume it star any help would be grately appreciated.

Very tricky for us to help, without being privy to the actual fault codes, and test data.

I would not say that was a common scenario though, presumably no communication was established with the SRS module?
If so, power supply, wiring checks etc are usually needed before condemning the module itself.
Not really sure why the ignition switch is being suspected here yet.

srs light on

Thanks for the reply Alex,When I asked what the fault code was I was told there was no code as there was no communicatiuon to the airbag module,I was told he had took out the centre console and checked the module wiring. The ignition switch came into the equation when he had checked his records of a similar car which he had worked on 2 years ago with a similar fault, and I was told that the contacts in the ignition switch start to arc this swithes the power to the airbag module off and on intermittently and eventually lows the air bag module.
Might be just coincidence but i was driving last week with the lid down and could here a rapid clicking noise coming from behind the dirvers seat not to sure if this is coneected witht the srs problem. The clicking stopped after a few miles.and every thing was normal.

The EIS is the master of the CAN,,if signal lost then no communication, but by looking at the CAN BUS on STAR you can see what is active and what is not

Clicking behind the drivers seat on an r230 is usually from the cd changer if it's playing up.
I would not expect an eis to cause this problem from experience, although you never know!!! I would be have to be sure the Sam is supplying the correct voltage etc etc

There are only 3 relays in the box behind the seat, fuel pump, rear window and another, I cannot see it being those doing the clicking

yes it sounds like a micro switch clicking either in the seat belt holder at the top of the seat or maybe some hting to do with the anti roll bar,it sounds like tis from that area of the car.

Disconnect the plug from the seat belt and report back.

I should add the the SRS is not connected directly to the CAN

Not a bad idea, maybe they could look a little deeper into it
