Hi All.

Please can someone confirm the process for the in-vehicle voltage check.

I think it’s a 3 times press of the reset button but tried this and the mode didn‘t come up.

Also is there a similar procedure for the auxiliary battery?

Mine is showing signs of failure again already despite installing a brand new Bosch battery in June 2021.

Many thanks.

Was it an AGM battery ? I only ever fit MB batteries. Same price as OEM. I usually test the voltage with a multimeter across the battery terminals in volts DC mode. Test at rest, and with the engine running. As a rough guide, value should be around 12V at rest and 13.7-14.2V with the engine running.

I have never heard of an in vehicle voltage check on the R230 in 10 years of ownership, but I could be wrong.

For my S211, the screen needs to be on mph ( showing 0) and the key needs to be at position one before I press the reset button 3 times.
this gives the voltage at rest, starting the engine gives the output, charging voltage.
From the voltage at rest stage I can also move on to check the oil level, service menu etc..

Got it. This is what it looks like.

It refers to “UB”’ which I assume is one of the batteries but not sure which.

I would have thought it would say “AB”‘for Auxiliary Battery if it is that one. But not sure.

Anyway at 12.7 Volts without switching on ignition it looks like this battery is ok.

It went up to 14 Volts when I turned it on.

I managed to charge the aux battery in full over night but still am resigned to the probability of it draining again.

U is the proper symbol to denote voltage. V is the unit.

From the Bosch blue book

So, please explain how you got that to show. Thank you

Exactly as Wearsafoxhat described above.

Insert ignition key and turn clockwise one click (do not start the car).

Scroll to the speed page.

Then press the reset button steadily 3 times. The voltage reading comes up.

May not show up on our older R230's Stuart, but never say never, I'll give it a go on mine today. My r230 is off line everything I start it now, battery is only 2.5 years old.

Many thanks. I'll give that a try when I next take the cover off. Probably next weekend if it's not snowing.

I tried that at the weekend on my early 2004 as I was not aware of it, it didn't work, unless I'm not pressing the button at the correct speed.
