Hi all,

I've had my 2003 SL500 parked up over the winter and it seems like the rear window seal has got to the point where it's started to leak (right hand side, into the top of the boot).
I've got a new seal kit from MB, including the thin sealing strip, and want to get it fitted asap now that the weather seems to be getting a bit better. Question is, what's the best way to fit it? The reason I ask is that everywhere I've looked it up people recommend holding the roof up when halfway open with a piece of wood between it and the top of the screen etc etc, but having had the roof down the other day I pressed the button in the boot that lifts the folded roof up to put stuff in there and couldn't help thinking that when it lifts surely I could change the seal in that position. If there's a good reason for not doing it this way then fair enough but I can't help thinking it gives better access to do the job.
Any advice on this welcome.

Thanks.

Thanks John, I read through that one (unfortunately the pictures aren't available but I get the gist). As I said I'm happy doing it that way I was just wondering if it can be done the way I suggested, and if not why not?
