R231 boot opens on remote then immediately closes???

My 13 plate R231 SL 500 boot opens on the remote and internal switch 4-5 inches but then immediately closes again????
Any ideas

Poss too much resistance, oil the pivot points, check the gas struts or it may need normalising.

Sorry, no real idea but low battery or lack of use..

its going to be one of THOSE faults as this morning it's working???!!! charged battery yesterday so it worked after that but later on stopped?
the car is not used this winter and the problem only started after i put the roof down and back up so maybe intermittent electrical bad connection
