what temp should the fan cut in at, e320cdi. i was in slow moving trafic on tuesday, quite warm outside when i noticed the temp creeping up. it got to just over 80 on the gauge before the trafic started moving again. i dont want to be caught out . so if someone can let me know i will let the car run on the drive to see if the fan kicks in. thanks simon

Dont sound like you have any probs, if you did, a fault would flash up saying cooling fan, visit workshop!

it will also work at a slow speed according to the pressure in your a.c system.

Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
You have a viscous clutch on your main fan, which basically means that when the clutch gets hot enough, the fan will lock to the fanbelt. It doesn't require power and you won't feel it cut in. You also have a couple of secondary fans, electric. You'll feel the engine revs drop when they cut in, but that only happens once you've been sat in traffic for 5 minutes on a hot day.
