Hey all,

In regards to my last post about the nuetral safety switch, and my lack of backup lights, i replaced the nuetral safety switch and that fixed both probs, the car fired right up and purred like a kitten, and the backup lights work now.

New problem, the radio doesnt seem to want to work on it. For a refresher, its a 1990 560SEL. Its got the stock tape deck in it. When i turned on the radio the first time it just said ''code'' on it. Not knowing what that meant, i tried pressing a random bunch of numbers in hopes of discovering the code with no luck. Now, about 2 weeks later, when i try to turn on the radio, i press the on button, the power antenna comes up, but the radio keeps blinking ''please wait'' over and over again without doing anything else.

So basically, is there any way to discover what the radio code is for my car? and also, what is it saying ''please wait'' for??

Hi,
You should have a small card in the case of the drivers manual with the code on. The instructions for entering the code should also be in the drivers manual pack. If you have neither then your local MB dealer should be able to get you the code if it is the original radio

To get rid of the "Please Wait" message, you need to leave the radio on (that probably means with the key in the ignition) for a certain amount of time. This could be up to 1 hour, depending on how often you have entered a random code. Make sure you find the correct code as mentioned by Blobcat (it is normally in the wallet with the handbook) or ask the previous owner if he still has this. Otherwise it's a trip to the main dealer to retrieve it.
After a certain amount of time, the message "Code" will come back. Make sure you enter the correct code or the time to wait will again be extended.
