radio in germany

I collected my s320 cdi from stuggart last month on route found Fm/dab radio stations showed music track info. Why don't this show in the uk

I only assume that in the UK, the service providers do not transmit this data.

I think its called extended RDS. When I worked in Germany about ten years ago I noticed that this information scrolled across the display. I wondered then why we didn't get it here.
Perhaps our "Nanny state" doesn't want it here, after all it must be distracting and dangerous, like smoking in your own car (I'm a non smoker by the way)

Correct. Sweden have had it for the last 12-15 years. Very much "not so needed" I think. They can even display commercials on this. Very distracting.

In Holland certain stations display mobile speed camera locations, very handy!
I find it quite useful to be able to check on the display who the track currently playing is by, in an anorak sort of way. Not sure I need adverts though.

If the radio was a DAB radio it would show the track my DAB does in the house

I hired an Opel in Italy and this also displayed ads and track listings via RDS.

I guess we're the only ones in Europe without it?
