Some clown has replaced the radio in my lovely W208 CLK with some piece of Panasonic crap and I'm not happy about it.

I know this is a question, the answer to which I can readily find with Google, but it's late and much easier to ask here.

How do I go about obtaining an original and having it plumbed in. In his infinite wisdom, the last geezer has disconnected the CD stacker to fit a singly included with the new radio, presumably because he was a clot. Can the original, made by one of the world's premier automobile manufacturers, be re connected or am I stuck with the new one, made by a bunch of disinterested yellow fellas with Labrador in their sandwiches?

Audio 10 would have been the standard factory fit unit, they can be found on ebay. Depending on how old it is the panasonic unit maybe more modern than the audio 10. The cables for the cd changer are most likely laying behind the headunit unconnected obviously as it wouldnt be compatible with the panasonic headunit. Best to check the model of cd changer you have so you can make sure you get the correct audio 10 as there are different models.

http://www.audio-10.com/ Going off the info here you need the Alpine unit. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from..._nkw=alpine+audio10&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Hi,
If you look at the data card for your car, it should tell you exactly what stereo was fitted from new, most likely an Audio 10 item, and probably a Radio/Cassette, this stereo was also available as a Radio/CD unit.
Think carefully about replacing it as your multi-changer is an unknown (might be broken, prompting the previous owner to replace the head unit in the first place).
You can source some very nice looking aftermarket head units which could suit your car, and will have much more functionality than the original.
But if you decide to stick to the original have a look on E-bay,
Radio/Cassette (most likely the one fitted to your car from new)

Radio/CD Unit (worth upgrading to this type, direct replacement for the Cassette item).

As the CLK was available with COMMAND (OEM SAT NAV), you could have this fitted but would involve some dash panels to convert to double-din, but these are available from MB. COMMAND looks something like this in the link below but if you decide to go this avenue pleae get it confirmed that the one below is the exact item to suit your car.

Make sure you get the security code with the Audio 10 units, and should be a direct swap out for your existing Panasonic unit through Standardised ISO plugs,

Worth pointing out that the MB badged Audio 10 was not made by MB but by Becker.

Provided that the last owner hasn't butchered the cables, it should be plug and play

Datacard is usually attached to the back of the service book. It details the options fitted at the factory. Basically the original order.

If you don't have it post up your VIN and one can be generated for you ;)
