Haven't posted in a while, all's been good with my 1996 C180 :)

However, since we've been having this glorious sun, my wiper decides it wants to "wipe" the windscreen for no apparent reason
any ideas please ??

Take the button off the end of the stalk, and squirt plenty of switch cleaner down it

Happens to me too. I thought it was just insects splattering the rain sensor.

what the actual wiper/indicator stalk ?

Yeah, prise the end cap off as TV says and give it a good squirt. You can dismantle the stalk but it is a bit of a joggle to get it all back together again in the right position.

I'm having the same problem so searched out the answer (I'm a snooper, not a regular poster).

A little research within the forum has saved me a fortune yet again, thank you guys and keep up the fantastic work.

Took the stalk apart and gave it a clean up earlier, followed the step by step photos in the link and apart from what looks like a slightly worn spring the unit is now working correctly.
A job that took less than 15 minutes to do.

Thanks again. :D
