Rapid tyre degradation on '15 E220 Estate

Recently took over someone's E220 for my probationary period.
This occurred on the M1 pretty rapidly but I also stopped rapidly, so I didn't drive it for long as a flat, only about 1/4 mile at about 30mph... Thank God it wasn't a 'Smart' section of the M1....

Back at the office I'm told that this is the 4th tyre in 3.5 years on that NSF corner. The geometry and bushes etc. have been checked twice.

I'm not hard on cars, far from it.

Has this occurred with other E-class users?

You can get that by driving over the middle of traffic calming measures, puts a lot of stress on the inside edge and if they're the bolted down type you can even catch the inner edge of your tyre under the edge of the hump. I always put one wheel in the gap and one right over the middle these days.
Had a friend lose two back tyres exactly the same as that and I lost two on a W211 as I had loads of speed bumps where I lived at the time

I get "comment" from my wife as I now do as Blobcat says, however the photos above confirm it's the safer way to travers those damned things. About a year ago I had a catastrophic inner sidewall failure on the rear OS Eagle F1, fortunately at low speed on a country lane, hit the wallet hard as I was 200 miles from home and needed next day replacement of both rear tyres as both were at about 3.5-4mm tread remaining.
