Looking at this for a local trader. He has fitted new tappets, but the knock is more general than that, but seems to be only top end... Oil pressure on the low side... 1 bar at 3000 rpm, less at idle... Probably a bit late, but he has asked me to fit an oil pump. Question is, has anyone done one, and if so can it be changed through the detachable sump well, rather than removing the whole sump?

I won't hold my breath.

Has the water pump pullry got any play in it?

Water pump fine. Tried the usual belt-off test to eliminate anything else. Low oil pressure is the symptom, the cause remains to be found...

Just want to know if the oil pump can be swapped out with the engine in situ...
