The mechanic replaced the Cam Sensor yesterday, which was a three-hour job. I stood next to him most of that time as I asked if I could take pictures as having searched Google for the location of the Cam Sensor only offered the Bert Rowe image, (link above) which is not very informative in this case.
The car has not not-started since the replacement and I think it is very interesting that now when I put the key to position 2, the glow plug light comes on for a couple of seconds and after starting the car the glow plug light doesn’t come back on.
I took many pictures of the replacement procedure and the tricky parts the mechanic experienced. The Cam Sensor is located under the injectors cover. My mechanic managed to replace the sensor without fully removing the injector cover, I think to remove this lid fully one would have to remove the turbo.
I’ll wait a few days to report back if the car is behaving and post the pictures of this change so that it may assist others needing to do the same job.
