Re-Code ??

Having to buy another original stereo for my 2006 facelift CLK does anyone know if it`s going to need re-coding for my car .

think if you enter code ,that benz give you ,if yr buying their original stereo you should be good to go . mine a 01 so may be different . if buying used make sure seller provides code.

Cheers . Had removed existing one before and then refitted without having to code and it worked . Just not sure if if another used unit would need to be re-coded to work with my car and therbye where I could get it coded . Thanks .

i think when you power up the replacement .audio 10 , is that the radio ? it will ask the code . you should ensure seller provides that .least anytime i remove power i have to ,as said my own is 01 w208

It may or may not need a code. If a previous owner disabled the code then you won't need it, if they didn't you will.

Mine is the Audio 20 Alpine unit so not sure if that`s different.

If you don't have a code and it asks then yes it's the dealer but you may need the VIN number for the donor car.

Oh to have my Brooklands Ford Capri again, it was soooo much easier in those days !

We're only talking about radio codes here. Actually coding the radio to the car shouldn't be required.

Just checked the Audio 20 manual and there is No mention anywhere about a code or anything relating to requiring a code should the unit be removed .

A good few sites on the web that will provide radio codes for free if you provide details about your new unit - serial no etc.
Work through the first few entries the free ones are further on...
