Hi guys noobie here....really need help now- i don't know what to do.

I bought my mum a 1999 Mercedes C200 Elegance Estate at the end of last summer and have an on going problem with it.

Within a few days....this started happening :-(

Basically when the car is started from cold it has a low idle and judders like crazy. When pulling away it is very un responsive and then suddenly the power comes in.

Even when warmed up it will still do this when pulling away from traffic lights sometimes.

In addition to this it also has a problem changing gear. It revs upto 3000-4000rpm on light throttle before changing and holds onto it for longer than usual. This happens the majority of time but occasionally when driving it will shift normally.

I have had the MAF sensor changed, coil plugs replaced, engine diagnosis connected up and reset twice, air filter replaced and cleaned the throttle body.

She loves the car to bits but it really is a problem now which can't be resolved. She is tight for money so hopefully wont be too expensive- just really want an answer after going to 3 garages to try and fix this. I am only 19 lol and my mechanical knowledge is limited.

Any input would be great so i get this sorted for good! :)

Thanks in advance

Tom

Could be a vacuum leak maybe, or possibly the Lambda or coolant temperature sensor.

Have you had the fault codes read using Star? If not might be wise to get them checked as you could be laying out for repairs you don't need. Good M/B independent will charge about £40 for this using Star computer.
