Really Stupid Question

Hi; please dont burn me for being daft. Just bought a C200K brand spanking new yesterday and very happy with it, however, a quick question - I am a new mercedes convert!!!

What does the picture of the "engine" illumination mean on the dashboard - its always on - this is worrying me in case it is major problem, the diagnostic says no faults - am I being daft or what, the manual seems not to mention this!!!!

Your probably gonna say that the "engines running" arent you?

Have a look at page 382 of the owners manual. I thgink it may be the engine diagnostic indicator lamp - is it yellow?

It should go out when the engine is running. If it stays on there may be a fault in the injection system, the ignition system or the exhaust system. The emission limit values may have been exceeded.

Back to the dealer.

Obviously the car runs ok but there is a problem.
