Hi Guys,

I' new here and already used a few guides so thanks for that. :D

I have a C180 Komp '03 Sports coupe.

I've done a search and found one thread on this but it didn't help much.

When I turn my rear window heater on the radio reception gets really bad. I assume the aerial is in the rear window. I have read sometimes the connectors can be loose? Where are these?
Some also say it's a new rear screen, others the amp? Any way of checking?

There was a handsfree kit installed, I have uninstalled it (looked ugly and I thought it may be causing the problem) but it's still the same.
I don't really fancy replacing the rear window...£££!

Any help much appreciated.

Dave

Hi & Welcome,

I know there was an issue with the E class (211's) and many (including me) had the rear screen replaced, this was due to a fault from new and not a fault that occurred down the line.

If you turn on the rear screen and the radio crackles,,then the screen at fault, you may have one or may have a large capacitor wired directly to the screen side spades,,if you do not have one do try a large 15.000mfd cap with the leads as short as possible on the screen to see if it helps

Thanks for all the replies people.
Television - im not really sure what a 15.000mfd cap is? or anything about the large capacitor! sorry.
Is there anything I can do? Cut the aerial lead and re-run it somewhere else?
Where is the aerial, all I can see is the rear heater element and no other smaller wires or anything? Surely it's shorting/damaged somewhere?

Thanks again.

What causes the interference is when one or more track go open circuit on the window, it is the arcing that makes the noise.

MB supply the cap or from computer shops, but you may have one

Re fitting the antenna is not easy as with 50 ohm cable you still need the amp

No way that you could drop a hammer accidentally on the window or some kids did it playing football with a stone
